Brett K. Ellsworth, President
Brett is President of Contact Development Company, LLC (“CDC”), a resort real estate development company active in Mexico and the United States. With offices in San Francisco, Mexico City and Puerto Vallarta, CDC specializes exclusively in the resort, residential, master planned community and hospitality sectors at an international level.

Since 1997 Brett has served as President of CDC and is responsible for managing all aspects of identifying and successfully executing new business and development opportunities which includes managing some or all of the following phases: project identification, “team building”, packaging, facilitating the required equity and debt financing transactions, construction, marketing and sales, on-going property management and disposition. CDC provides said services for its own development projects where CDC functions as the sponsor/principal, and occasionally as a co-developer with third party land owners, developers and owners of operating resort assets that seek CDC’s expertise in these areas, an example of which is the very successful Punta Mita project located near Puerto Vallarta where CDC worked closely with the Mexican land owner/developer to create Mexico’s first private resort community. While Brett is active in CDC’s domestic projects in the United States, he is principally responsible for CDC’s resort development projects located in Mexico.

CDC is the co-founder and principal sponsor, together with the international firms of Baker & McKenzie and Deloitte, of the annual conference “Mexico Resort Development: Opportunities for Development and Foreign Investment”.

Prior to joining CDC and opening its Mexico City office in 1997, Brett worked for three years in Guadalajara; two of those years as the Manager of Investment and Development for Estratur, the international sales and marketing arm of Grupo Situr, Mexico’s largest resort real estate developer at the time. As the Manager of this division, Brett was in charge of all international marketing activities of the company’s institutional quality assets, focused specifically on the United States and Canada, for Grupo Situr’s wholesale real estate assets located in Mexico which included: hotels, golf courses, marinas, land, commercial centers and entire resort projects. Brett was in charge of managing and marketing a real estate portfolio valued at more than USD $350 million and within 18 months, Brett had successfully identified investors for more than USD $100 million worth of assets.

Brett originally joined Grupo Situr in an executive level position in 1993 and for more than one year worked in all areas of the company including: international finance, accounting, legal, planning and architecture, construction, sales and marketing, computer systems, market investigation and human resources.

Prior to relocating to Mexico in 1993, Brett worked as a Real Estate Consultant in the Hospitality Practice Area of E&Y/Kenneth Leventhal Real Estate Group where he worked with such clients as: The Bank of America, Chase Manhattan Bank, the Bel-Air Hotel, The Peninsula Hotel Company, the Beverly Hills Hotel, Nikko Hotels and Maguire Thomas Partners among others.

Brett graduated from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Finance in 1990. He then went on to earn a Master’s degree in Real Estate Development from the same university in 1992.

Brett is fluent in Spanish, is a frequent speaker on the subject of resort real estate development and investment, is a licensed real estate salesperson in California and has been a very active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) since 1992. Brett is currently a member of ULI’s Recreational Development Council, is the Co-Founder and former Co-Chairman of the ULI Mexico Council and is a past member of the ULI International Council.
